With brand-new heavy-duty portal cranes standing tall along the waterfront and operating at full capacity, the logistics access of the industrial park has achieved comprehensive upgrading. On May 22 local time, four 40-ton portal slewing cranes were officially commissioned at the IPK Terminal of Pomalaa Industrial Park (IPIP) developed by Huayou Cobalt in Indonesia. The launch marks full completion of civil construction works at IPK Terminal and ushers in a new phase of regular equipment operation. It delivers a leap forward in the port’s supporting capacity and logistics service capability, standing as a landmark breakthrough in the construction of Huayou’s overseas industrial park in Indonesia and laying solid logistics underpinnings for the company’s integrated full industrial chain layout abroad.

As a core supporting project of IPIP Industrial Park, IPK Terminal sits in the nickel-rich heartland of Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, serving as a critical pillar for the park’s integrated modern industrial and logistics chain development. Moving forward, the terminal will primarily undertake loading, unloading and transportation of raw materials, auxiliary supplies and finished products for the park. Meanwhile, it will provide efficient, professional public logistics services to all settled enterprises to further lift the park’s overall logistics reliability and operational efficiency.
The four sets of 40T/40M heavy-duty portal cranes safely arrived on-site on May 2 and passed full commissioning to reach operational readiness. Each unit boasts a rated lifting load of 40 tons and a maximum working outreach of 40 meters, featuring robust hardware specs and powerful handling capacity. Once fully operational, the equipment will drastically boost the terminal’s cargo throughput and overall operational efficiency, furnishing robust hardware support for large-scale, stable industrial expansion of the park.
“The formal launch of the four portal cranes marks a pivotal shift of IPK Terminal from structural completion to full functional readiness, echoing IPIP Park’s consistent drive to refine industrial supporting facilities and ramp up comprehensive carrying capacity,” commented Ning Jiancheng, CEO of IPIP Industrial Park.
Currently, all four heavy cranes are running on a regular basis, continuously lifting the park’s logistics turnover efficiency and cross-industrial chain coordination. The ongoing optimization of terminal supporting infrastructure and operational system consolidates Huayou’s competitive edge in integrated nickel mining and metallurgy across its Indonesian footprint and improves the park’s public service system and business environment. Besides, the timely rollout of this project deepens China-Indonesia industrial capacity cooperation, fuels local industrial advancement, improves regional industrial infrastructure and injects strong momentum into the economic growth of Southeast Sulawesi.

Against the backdrop of booming new energy and advanced new material industries globally, stable and efficient global industrial and supply chains have gained growing strategic importance. Leveraging Indonesia’s abundant nickel resources, Huayou keeps expanding its overseas industrial footprint, consolidating its global development foundation with high-standard infrastructure, complete auxiliary facilities and streamlined operations. Going forward, backed by IPIP Park’s comprehensive strengths and IPK Terminal’s role as a key logistics hub, Huayou will keep optimizing its global logistics supply chain and strengthening upstream-downstream industrial synergy. The firm aims to set a benchmark for Chinese enterprises’ overseas investment and cooperation, advance high-quality Belt and Road Initiative industrial capacity cooperation with solid overseas deployment and refined operation, and deliver stable resource and logistics backup for the healthy growth of global new energy and new material sectors.
