On September 21, the opening ceremony of the fourth trilateral master's program in metallurgical engineering between Huayou Cobalt, Indonesia's Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Northeastern University was held at Northeastern University. Representatives from Huayou Cobalt, the Indonesian government, Indonesian universities, as well as university leaders and faculty attended the event. Gao Baojun, Senior Vice President of the company, extended congratulations to the 24 new students, encouraging them to cherish their academic opportunities, strengthen their professional foundations, integrate knowledge with practice, strive to become practical talents in the industry, and serve as a bridge connecting the two countries.

Mandi Firdaus, Assistant Minister at Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, spoke highly of the tripartite project. He noted that Indonesia is vigorously advancing the downstream processing of mineral resources to build a high value-added nickel-cobalt new-energy industry chain, and that local professional talent is the core pillar of its industrial upgrading. He looks forward to the students overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers and studying with dedication, so that upon returning home they may serve the development of their country's industry and build a bridge of knowledge, technology, and friendship between the two countries. 

     Xu Wei, Vice President of Northeastern University, stated in his address that since its launch in 2022, the program has been cultivated over many years and established an integrated international talent-training system combining professional courses, research training, Chinese-language study, and enterprise practice, forming a dual-track training model that advances metallurgy and Chinese-language proficiency in parallel. He described it as a landmark achievement of the university's internationalized education. He encouraged the incoming Indonesian students to carry forward the university motto of "Self-Improvement and the Unity of Knowledge and Action," to study diligently and hone their skills, to serve as friendly messengers of communication between the two countries, and to help build the China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Huayou Cobalt, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development of Indonesia, and Northeastern University signed the tripartite cooperation agreement, alongside a university-enterprise agreement between the two parties. The Huayou Cobalt delegation attended the university-enterprise bilateral talks and the trilateral government-university-enterprise talks, laying a foundation for deeper cooperation in the future. Guo Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Northeastern University, and Xu Wei, Vice President, attended the events.

Li Qian, General Manager of the Headquarters Human Resources Center, held a special symposium on behalf of the company with Northeastern University faculty and both new and returning Indonesian international students. The session focused on concerns spanning the full cycle of students' study and growth, listening face-to-face to the voices of teachers and students, answering their questions, and delivering practical support and services for education and development.

As the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the company delegation carried out a holiday greeting activity, presenting Mid-Autumn gift packages and sincere festival wishes to all Indonesian international students studying at Northeastern University, so that the overseas students far from home could feel the warmth of home.

The series of activities during this visit to Northeastern University marks both a new starting point for the next cycle of talent development and a sign that the tripartite cooperation among Huayou Cobalt, the Indonesian government, and Northeastern University has advanced from single-dimension talent training into a new stage of synergistic development across "talent training, scientific research innovation, and industrial enablement." Going forward, Huayou Cobalt will continue to deepen the government-university-enterprise-research collaboration, empower overseas industry co-development through localized talent cultivation, and steadily improve the cross-border joint-training model, so as to keep contributing to the coordinated industrial development and mutual cultural exchange between China and Indonesia.
