On April 30, Huayou Holding Group’s 2026 Technology Conference was held at its headquarters in Tongxiang. Chen Xuehua, Chairman of Huayou Holding Group, delivered a speech titled Building a Technology-Driven Huayou, Empowering New Industrial Development.

This year is the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan and a critical year for comprehensively advancing the construction of a "Technology-Driven Huayou". The main tasks of this conference are to anchor the development strategy of the 15th Five-Year Plan, advance the strategic initiatives of the "Five Huayous" in an integrated manner, focus on building a Technology-Driven Huayou, and further unify thinking, clarify directions, build consensus and implement actions.

Chen Xuehua emphasized: Scientific and technological innovation is not an option, but a mandatory question concerning the survival and long-term development of the enterprise—and a key force determining the success or failure of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Huayou is now at a historic juncture of growing from a large enterprise to a strong one, achieving a crucial leap. For today’s Huayou, technological innovation is a strategic initiative that determines the success of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Huayou’s future, and whether the Group can seize the initiative in the new round of industrial competition. Guided by strategic and problem-oriented thinking, we must identify gaps in product performance and costs in business plans, pinpoint customer pain points, and solve these challenges through technological innovation—then Huayou’s 15th Five-Year Plan goals will surely be achieved. If we understand, communicate and implement this thoroughly, we will set the direction for a Technology-Driven Huayou, define concrete measures for innovation, and drive industrial development forward.

Why Huayou Must Pursue Technological Innovation

Looking back at Huayou’s development, every milestone has been supported by tangible technological progress. Innovation is the fundamental driver of enterprise transformation and leapfrogging, the backbone of an integrated industrial chain, and the core thread connecting all elements.

In today’s competitive landscape, industry rivalry is intensifying and technological iteration is accelerating. The efficiency of innovation has become the key to the 15th Five-Year Plan’s success. Without technological leadership, there can be no product or cost leadership; business competitiveness vanishes, leaving the enterprise a bystander in industry progress—and doomed to be eliminated by the market.

How Huayou Can Excel at Technological Innovation

To succeed in innovation, Huayou must adhere to strategic, problem and goal-oriented principles.

Grasp the Logic Between Technological and Industrial Innovation.

We must integrate the innovation chain across resources, smelting, materials and recycling; connect laboratory research, small-scale testing, pilot testing, large-scale testing, demonstration lines and mass production; and link product development, customer certification, standard-setting, intellectual property protection and industrialization. This ensures innovation becomes the true source of industrial vitality.

Emancipate the Mind.

"Never underestimate the potential of technological innovation, and do not hastily judge the limits of existing technologies." Rigid thinking is innovation’s greatest enemy. We must set higher standards, experiment boldly, embrace cross-industry integration, pool innovation resources, break technological boundaries, and always stay at the industry’s forefront.

"For the future, we need innovation more than ever—and we are better positioned than ever to deliver it."

Chen Xuehua noted that the Group’s "500 Research Plan" and sustained investment in technology have built a solid hardware and software foundation for innovation. Nothing is impossible if we dare to imagine. By building a Technology-Driven Huayou, deepening the integration of technological and industrial innovation, and turning innovation—the "key variable"—into the "maximum driver" of industrial growth, Huayou will seize the initiative, gain advantages, and secure its future in the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.

"A Technology-Driven Huayou is not a slogan—it is Huayou’s future." The conference called on all Huayou employees to take this event as a new starting point, raise the banner of a Technology-Driven Huayou higher, firmly pursue the innovation path of "securing resources upstream, expanding markets downstream, and enhancing capabilities in the middle", strive to become a global leader in energy materials technology, support industrial development through innovation, serve national strategies through industrial progress, and contribute more Huayou strength to building an energy powerhouse and advancing Chinese modernization.


Chen Hongliang, Chairman of Huayou Cobalt, delivered the Scientific and Technological Innovation and Development Work Report, comprehensively summarizing the achievements of the 14th Five-Year Plan’s technological work and systematically deploying key tasks and supporting measures for innovation during the 15th Five-Year Plan. We must earnestly study and implement the report’s requirements, integrate them into daily work, better embed innovation into industrial development, and write a new chapter of high-quality growth for the company.

The conference also held an award ceremony for Huayou Holding Group’s Top 10 Technological Achievements of the 14th Five-Year Plan, with Chairman Chen Xuehua presenting awards to representatives of winning units.

Policies for the development and incentives of technical talent were announced at the conference. Heads of Youshan Technology, Huachuang New Materials, Huayou Cobalt’s New Energy, New Materials, Indonesian Nickel, Non-Ferrous Metals, Circular Industry Group, and Process Engineering Design Research Institute delivered commitment speeches in turn, solemnly pledging to focus on core priorities: technological breakthroughs, industry-research collaboration, cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and green innovation. The conference was presided over by Zhang Bing, Vice President of Huayou Cobalt.


The event adopted a "main venue + global cloud venue" model to reach all Huayou managers. In addition to the Tongxiang main venue, nearly 1,000 cadres attended in real time at domestic and international branch venues in Quzhou, Yulin, Tianjin, Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing, Nanchang, Tongling, Changsha, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, Indonesia and Hungary.
