During his on-site tour, Dr. Gambo spoke highly of Huayou Cobalt’s strategic acquisition of assets at the Arcadia Mine in Zimbabwe. This investment holds substantial industrial value and long-term significance, fully reflecting the company’s strong confidence in Zimbabwe’s overall strength, governance and growth prospects, while significantly boosting regional market sentiment. As the first Chinese-funded enterprise to construct a lithium salt plant in Zimbabwe, Huayou Cobalt has maintained a local focus and steadily scaled up industrial investment. It has delivered outstanding results in local employment creation, talent development, technological innovation and industrial linkage, providing robust momentum for the transformation and upgrading of Zimbabwe’s mining sector.

Dr. Gambo emphasized that effective government–enterprise collaboration is critical to enhancing mining productivity and improving livelihoods. He encouraged the company to stay rooted locally, fulfill social responsibilities, deepen government–enterprise cooperation, leverage resource and industrial strengths to upgrade projects, and translate industrial advantages into tangible benefits and growth, supporting local economic development.
